New Adventure
Hello my on the go-ians!! It’s time for a new adventure!
It's been quiet on this blog for the past year, but that's about to change. I'm leaving Sunday morning for my next adventure! I'll be spending the next year teaching English in South Korea.
The past year has been kind of dull. I mostly spent it working, sleeping, avoiding Covid, missing Europe, sleeping some more and planning my next adventure.
It wasn't all boring. Last November I went on a road trip with my best friend and fellow traveler (hello Jordy!) We visited multiple national and state parks in four different states. We were gone for 16 days and listened to way too many conspiracy theory podcasts. Highlights include: The Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Horseshoe Bend, Bryce Canyon and Canyonlands National Park.
It was nice to be home again after staying in The Netherlands for a year. I had to quarantine when I returned in June 2020, but then after that it was right to work! I wasn’t sure how long I was going to be stateside, but I knew I needed to make some money in order to pay off my credit card and start saving money for a new adventure fund.
I also needed money to pay for a TEFL course so I could find a teaching job when I moved abroad again. I got my CELTA certificate through Missouri State University. CELTA is a 120 hour teacher training program and through it I got my first glimpse of teaching! Once I completed the course, I started teaching online with Magic Ears and started looking for jobs.
I’m really looking forward to starting my job! I will be teaching children at a private, after-school academy (a hagwon) in the city of Daegu. I’ve never been to Korea, so I’m not sure what to expect, but that’s half the fun. Let me know if you have any recommendations for a first time traveler!
That’s all for now. Next time I update, it’ll be from my new home!
